Measurement set-up
The VSWR bridge HZ 547 has 3 N female
N-connectors.
IN = input to the bridge
Here the signal source is to be connected. This may
be a HF-generator, the tracking generator of a spec-
trum analyzer or network analyzer.
OUT = Output of the bridge
At this output a voltage is available the ampli-
tude and phase of which are proportional to the re-
flection coefficient of the DUT and which may be

measured using a suitable detector. A suitable de-
tector may be a HF-wattmeter, the input of a spec-
trum analyzer or network analyzer.
DUT = Device under test – connection
The DUT should be connected as closely as pos-
sible, any cable or adapter inbetween will affect the
measurement as they cause additional reflections.
In order to keep the connections short between
the VSWR bridge HZ547 and the Hameg Spectrum
Analyzer (only with option HV211) the bridge has
been designed so that it can be connected directly
via N to N adapters. Two adapters are enclosed
with the instrument.
