9. Troubleshooting

Fault
Tool doesn't run
Tool runs too fast / too slow
No hammering action
Clutch releases while drilling
On / off switch cannot be pressed
Speed suddenly drops
Battery becomes discharged
faster than usual
Battery does not engage with an
audible "click"
Tool or battery overheats
Drill bit or screwdriving bit slips
in the chuck

Possible cause
Battery is discharged or not correctly Refit the battery. It must be heard
fitted
Electrical fault
Speed selector in wrong position
Tool set to the wrong mode
Tool set to screwdriving mode
Forward / reverse switch is set to
middle position
The battery is almost exhausted.
Battery condition is not optimal.
Dirt on battery locking mechanism
Electrical fault
Overload due to exceeding application Select the right tool for the appli-

Drill bit or screw gets stuck
Chuck not tightened correctly
Remedy
to engage with an audible "click".
Charge the battery if necessary.
Remove the battery and contact
your nearest Hilti service center.
Move the speed selector switch to
the desired position.
Set the tool to hammering
mode.
Set the tool to drilling mode.
Move the forward / reverse switch
to the left/right.
Stop working with the exhausted
battery and charge it fully.
Charge the battery using condi-
tioning mode (see battery charger
operating instructions).
Clean battery locking mechanism
and refit the battery. Contact your
nearest Hilti service center if the
problem persists.
Switch off the tool immediately.
Remove the battery and contact
your nearest Hilti service center.

Release the drill bit or screw.
Tighten the chuck securely by
applying reasonable force.
