Aerosol output rate (quantity of aerosol that is output by the nebuliser
system per unit of time)
Fill the nebuliser with 5ml of a 4% Xylocain solution (40mg lidocaine hydrochlo-
ride monohydrate per ml). Attach the nebuliser to the PARI Compass Breath
Simulator for at least 1 minute.
Aerosol output rate in (mg/min) for minimum flow (4.5l/min) and maximum
flow (6.0l/min):
Min. flow (4.5l/min)
Max. flow (6.0l/min)
(Averages from each of 2 separate measurement series with 3 nebuliser/
compressed air combinations)
