Tracking force adjustment
(1) Remove
the stylus cover
and disengage the rest
hook.
(2) Set the anti-skating knob to ''0" and adjust the tone
arm's balance using the balance weight.
(3) Secure the balance weight by hand, rotate only the
scale ring and set the ring's ''o to the index line.
(4) Rotate
the balance weight gently and align the
index line with the number (2 g with this unit)
corresponding to the designated tracking force of
the cartridge used.
. Anti-skating adjustment
Align the number (2 g with this unit) corresponding to
the designated tracking force of the cartridge used with
the reference line.
. Stylus height adjustment
Place the record on the plattered and set the arm lifter
button to UP. Now remove the cap and adjust the stylus
height adjust screw with an ordinary screwdriver so that
between
5 and 8 mm.
. Stylus descent position adjustment
Use a 30 cm record or a HITACHI test record (HT-5E,
stock No. 2561131) for the adjustment.
(1) Remove the cap. (Refer to Fig. 7)
(2) Perform the auto-in operation and check the stylus
descent position.
(3) Adjust the stylus descent position ajust screw with
an ordinary screwdriver. When this position is too
far inside the record, rotate the screw to the left,
and when too far outside, rotate the screw to the
right. Rotating the screw through a half-turn causes
the descent position of the stylus to change about
1.5 mm.
(4) Repeat (2) and (3), and adjust to the position in
Fig. 8
When adjusting with the HITACHI HT-5E
test record (side A), adjust to about 15 counts at
the 30 cm position. When the descent position of
the stylus is adjusted on this unit the return position
is simultaneously adjusted.
. Speed adjustment
Adjust as follows when revolution is not normal.
(1) Set the speed selector to 33 rpm.
(2) Connect a DC voltmeter with the (4) side to pin 10
of IC 51 and the C) side to ground.
(3) Adjust R51 and set the DC voltmeter's value to
1.740.1V.
. Return sensitivity adjustment (Fig. 9)
Adjust as follows when replacing the CdSO1 and D14 of
when the return circuit is malfunctioning.
(1) Remove the dust cover and platter, secure the tone
arm to the arm rest, turn the cabinet upside down
and remove the bottom panel.
Remove the sensor holder after removing the auto
mechanism. Bring the tone arm from the arm rest
to the innermost part of the platter.
Note: Take care not to damage the CdS surface
when removing the sensor holder.
Place the sensor holder which has been removed in
a dark box (or a bag which does not admit any
light).
Connect a DC voltmeter with the G)side to the R43
terminal of the control P.W.B. and the (—) side to
the R30 ground.
Return the tone arm to the arm rest position again,
secure it and then set the power switch to ON.
Rotate R43 slowly adjust for a DC voltmeter read-
ing of between 1.6 V and 1.8 V.

(7) After adjustment, first secure the sensor holder to
the unit plate and mount it, following the removal
procedure in reverse.
(Note: Insert the holder firmly.)
(8) Set the record size selector knob to 30 cm, allow
the stylus
to trace the grooves
for the auto-in
adjustment on the HT-5E
HITACHI
test record
(side A), and adjust the descent position of the
stylus to the count 15 position.
(9) Allow the stylus to trace the grooves for the return
sensitivity check on the HT-SE record (side B) and
check that there is no return.
Allow the stylus to trace the grooves for the return
sensitivity check on the HT-SE record (side A), and
check the return at between count 5 and 9.
