In photovoltaic solar systemslead batteriesare often used for storing solar
current. These batteries have to be protected against overcharging and
overdischarging.TheSolsum controllersSolsum5 0/ 5.6 / 8.018.8 fulfillboth
tasksin one device. They can be used for in 12 and24 V systems.

process is temperature dependent, the final charge voltage is adapted
automaticallyto the ambient temperatureby a built.in sensor.Strong gasing
leads to an electrolyte loss and finally to the destruction01the battery. The

Gaslng Regulation
Thefinalchar evoltage is Changedin dependencewith the discharge level.
When a lead attcry is operated without and gas developmentfor a longer
time.thereis the danger Ofa harmful acidlayering. This acidlayering can be
avoided by limited. controlled gasing. This function is

Advice
for Installation:
Thecontroller has to be installedpossiblynearthe batteryand mustnot be
exposedto directweatherconditions. Thccontroller is to be operated'n
well-ventilatedrooms. Theconnectionterminalshaveto point downwards
whenit iSinstalled.Inordertoactivate the protectivefunctionsthecontroller
has to be connected with solar generator. battery and users.
Allsystem components i.e. s olar g enerator. battery u sers and controller have

Following orderhasto beobeyed wheninstalling y ourcontroller:
1.Connect t hebatterywiththecontroller a tthescrew terminal. Thebiggest

and a connectionterminalheatingaslowas possible(seetechnicaldata)
Onlywhenthe controller is installed withshortcircuitproofcables.an
isolationofthe battery cablecanbeomitted. O therwise a fusehasto be
inserteddirectlyat thepluspoleof thebatteryin orderto avoida short
circuit.Bothcomponents have to beinstalled in thesameroomin near
distance. as the sensor for temperature determinationis integrated into
the Controller.
2. Connect the modules Withthe controllerand notethe correct polarity
