3. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
PE-60 is an accessory that has been specially designed for
use with VIRUTEX routers. It enables the user to cut or route
ellipses and circles.
4. STANDARD EQUIPMENT
The box contains the following items:
One template support.
Two sets of suction cups for fixing the template in place.
Two sets of mobile shoes.
One compass bar.
Two supplementary compass bars.
Two x 8 mm diameter rods for coupling with VIRUTEX
surface routers.
One arm for fixing bars in place.
5 and 6 mm Allen keys.
The screws and washers needed for assembly.
Operating instructions and miscellaneous documentation
5. OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
6045708 Set of 2 coupling bars with a diameter of 10 mm.
6045709 Set of 2 coupling bars with a diameter of 12 mm.
6045714 Set of 2 coupling bars for FR292R router.
6. ASSEMBLY
ASSEMBLING THE TEMPLATE
Place the mobile shoes (D Fig. 3) in the guides on the base
(A Fig. 3).
Assemble the necessary compass bars (F and G Fig. 4), screwing
one into the other. The number of bars to be used (one, two
or three) will be determined by the trim diameter required.
Fix the arm (B Fig. 4) to the compass bar (F+G) using a size
8 Allen key and the washers (H, I and J Fig. 4), with the aid
of the service key.
Place the compass bar (F+G) into the holes in the two shoes
(D Fig. 3 and 5) and set the knobs (C Fig. 3) at the distance
(A Fig. 1) required.
Attach the two coupling bars (E Fig. 4) to the arm (B Fig. 4),
using the screws and washers (K and L Fig. 4)
INSTALLING THE ROUTER
4
FR160P/FR66P (Fig. 5)
Adjust the distance between the coupling bars (E Fig. 4), in
order to be able to place them in the base of the router (Fig. 5).
Place the router at the required distance from the centre of
rotation and fix in place using the knobs (R Fig. 5).
Check to make sure that the base of the router is flush with
the work surface, and if not, correct the height using the
screw (H Fig. 4) on the compass bar.
FR192N (Fig. 12)
Adjust the distance between the coupling bars (E Fig. 12),
in order to be able to place them in the base of the router.
Place the router at the required distance from the centre
of rotation and fix in place using the knobs (R Fig. 12).
Check to make sure that the base of the router is flush with
the work surface, and if not, correct the height using the
screw (H Fig. 12) on the compass bar.
FR292R (Fig. 13)
To attach this router, you will need to get the set of 2
FR292R router coupling bars (6045714), which are an
optional accessory.
Attach the coupling bars to the arm (B Fig. 13) and adjust
the distance between them, in order to be able to place
them in the router base.
Place the router at the required distance from the centre of
rotation and fix in place using the studs (Z Fig. 13).
Check to make sure that the base of the router is flush with
the work surface, and if not, correct the height using the
screw (H Fig. 13) on the compass bar.
7. FIXING THE TEMPLATE
The template should be fixed to the piece on which you wish
to work using the suction cups supplied, only if the surface
of the work piece is flat, smooth and non-porous, such as
melamine-coated or smooth layered surfaces.
The suction cup works by pressing it down onto the surface
to which it is to be attached and moving the central lever
to the horizontal position, as shown in (Fig. 6).
The suction cups are specially designed for fixing templates
during routing jobs. If the work is carried out non-conti-
nuously, with long breaks in between, it will be necessary
to check the suction of the cups before resuming work.
If the work surface is porous, like wood, chipboard or
MDF, the base of the template will need to be fixed to the
surface using 4 screws attached through the holes in the
four corners of the base.
8. ROUTING ELLIPSES (Figs. 8, 9, 10 and 11)
Ensure that the base of the template is attached firmly
to the work piece, using the suction cups or the screws.
Check that the distance from the centre of the base to the
inner lip of the tool (R+A, Fig. 1) is equal to half of the
larger axis of the ellipse you wish to route.
Check that the distance between the shoes (A Fig. 1) is correct.
Adjust the tool and proceed to route the desired shape.
9. ROUTING CIRCLES (Fig. 7)
Only one shoe is used for routing circles (D Fig. 3). This
should be attached to the centre of the base (A Fig. 7) of
