The shields of the field wiring must be connected to the
potential equalization of the hazardous area if X2 "Outputs
OFF" is used. For this purpose the shields of the field wiring
must be connected to the shield busses installed in the enclo-
sure as close as possible to the entry point. The shield bus-
ses must also be connected to the mounting plate close to
the entry point in the shortest possible way.
Assembly and Installation
The national installation instructions
(e.g. IEC/EN 60079-14) must be observed.
Intrinsically-safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits must
not be used in a common cable duct!
Ensure that there is a distance of at least 50 mm
between connection facilities of intrinsically-safe and
non-intrinsically safe circuits!
The shields of the field wiring must be connected to the
potential equalization of the hazardous area if the X2 is
used.
For this purpose the shields of the field wiring must be
connected to the shield busses installed in the
enclosure as close to the entry point as possible.
The shield busses must also be connected to the
mounting plate close to the entry point of the field wiring
in the shortest possible way.
For installation into an enclosure provide a suitable
pressure release device (e.g. screw-in silencer by
Legris).
Use only fresh air for compressed air generation.
The integrated valves must not be dismounted during
operation.
Observe valid accident prevention and safety
regulations for pressurized devices.
Depressurize and vent lines and valves before
disconnecting them.
The module and plug-in terminal X2 can be safely
connected or disconnected during operation in a
hazardous area (hot swap).
Assembly on the BusRail
•
If the base bolts (1) are in the rear latching position use a
screw driver to press the locking lever (2) to unlock them.
•
Position the module vertically at the intended slot of the
BusRail and press to snap it into place.
•
Check the locking of the base bolts, if necessary, snap the
base bolt manually into place.
•
Connect the field devices to pneumatic connections Y0 ... Y7.
•
If necessary, connect the electric circuit "Outputs OFF" to the
plug-in terminal X2.
•
Place the field wiring shields as close to the entry point of the
earthing bar as possible.
A connection diagram is imprinted on the rear side of
the symbol label at the cover flap.
Module operation is permitted only in the following
mounting positions:
Vertical mounting with pneumatic connections below,
on the left and on the right.

Digital Output Module Valve Series 9478
Module replacement
Depressurize and vent lines before disconnecting lines
and valves.
Ensure controlled restart of the process after
interruption of the electric or pneumatic supply.
When replacing the module with a module identical in
construction, the previous parameters are applied.
No further settings are necessary.
When replacing the module with another one, it is
identified correctly at the slot, since the previously set
parameters do not suit this module, it reports a
configuration error. The module must be either
parameterised again or it is necessary to connect the
module of the right type.
•
Disconnect pneumatic lines (Y0 ... Y7, P, R).
•
If necessary, loosen the screws of the plug-in terminal X2 and
remove the terminals.
•
Put both base bolts into the rear latching position.
•
Remove the module vertically from the BusRail.
•
If necessary, unlock the base bolts of the new module
(see "Assembly on the BusRail".
•
Position the new module vertically onto the BusRail and
press to snap it into place.
•
If necessary, plug in the plug-in terminal X2 into the module
and secure it against loosening by means of screws.
Operating Modes
Normal mode
In the normal mode pneumatic connections are
actuated by the IS1 system. Manual actuations of the
individual valves must be set to "0" in the normal mode.
Manual actuation
The pneumatic connections can be actuated manually
individually.
Manual actuation for Y1, Y3, Y5, Y7: latching
Manual actuation for Y0, Y2, Y4, Y6: spring return or
latching
•
Keep the manual actuation of the corresponding pneumatic
connection pressed (spring return) or set it to "1" by means
1
of a screwdriver (latching).
Before switching to the normal mode set all manual
actuations to "0".
Maintenance and Servicing
The module is maintenance-free.
•
Observe the function according to designated use.
2
•
Adhere to the directives according to IEC/EN 60079-17.
•
Adhere to permissible temperatures according to
IEC/EN 60079-0.
Repair
09764E00
For repair send the module to the responsible sales organisation
(address see www.stahl.de).
Repair is to be performed only by the manufacturer.
Transport and Storage
Transport and storage are permitted only in the original
packaging.
Disposal
Observe the national standards for refuse disposal.
