Total discharging due to storage
If a relatively low charged Li-Ion battery is stored, self discharging can lead to
total discharge damage of the battery after longer storage. Li-Ion batteries must
therefore be charged before storing and recharged every six months at the
latest and charged again before use.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Charge the battery before use. Recharge Li-Ion batteries regularly to avoid
their total discharge. The rechargeable battery will be damaged by total
discharge.
Only use approved REMS rapid chargers for charging the REMS battery. New
Li-Ion batteries and Li-Ion batteries which have not been used for a long time
only reach full capacity after several charges.
Rapid charger (accessory art. no. 571560)
The left control lamp lights up and remains green when the mains plug is
plugged in. If a battery is inserted in the rapid charger, the green control lamp
fl ashes to indicate that the battery is charging. The green light stops fl ashing
and remains on to signal that the battery is fully charged. If the red control lamp
fl ashes, the battery is defective. If the red control lamp comes on and remains
on, this indicates that the temperature of the rapid charger is outside the permis-
sible range of 0°C to +40°C.
NOTICE
NOTICE
The rapid chargers are not suitable for outdoor use.
2.2. Installing the Machine
Place the electric pipe cutting machine on a REMS Jumbo E or REMS Jumbo
collapsible workbench (accessory, art. No. 120240 or 120200). Alternatively,
unscrew the pipe arm (2) and clamp the basic body (1) in the vice (Fig. 3) or
bolt the basic body to a form base with screws through the holes (3). Longer
pipes must be supported on both sides of the machine if necessary with REMS
Herkules 3B or REMS Herkules Y (accessory, Art. No. 120120 or 120130).
2.3. Fitting (Changing) the Cutting Wheel (4)
Pull out the mains plug or remove the battery! Choose suitable cutting wheel:
● REMS cutting wheel Cu-INOX for stainless steel pipes, steel pipes and
copper pipes of the pressfi tting systems
● REMS cutting wheel V for composite pipes.
Remove hexagon nut (5) with single open-ended wrench size 8. Insert (change)
cutting wheel (4). Make sure that the cams of the drive shaft engage in the
drivers of the cutting wheel. Replace the hexagon nut (5)
NOTICE
NOTICE
Use only an original REMS cutting wheels! An unsuitable cutting wheel will be
damaged or the pipe will not be cut.
3. Operation
CAUTION
CAUTION
Danger of injury!
Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or
long hair can get caught in moving parts.
3.1. Work procedure
Pull up the handle (7) until the pipe to be cut can be placed on the pipe rest
(6). Outside burr (sawing burr) must be removed from the pipe otherwise the
rollers will be damaged. Make sure that the a cutting wheel (4) suitable for the
pipe to be cut is selected/fi tted. Do not allow the pipe to knock against the
cutting wheel when inserting, the cutting wheel could be damaged. Mark the
cutting point on the pipe and position it to the cutting wheel. Support longer
pipes (see 3.2). Press the safety inching switch (8), press the handle (7) against
the pipe rest and cut the pipe.
5. Behaviour in the event of faults
5.1. Fault: Electric pipe cutting machine, cordless pipe cutting machine comes to a standstill during cutting.
Cause:
● Feeding pressure too high.
● Blunt/broken cutting wheel.
● Worn carbon brushes.
● Battery fl at or defective (REMS Nano 11 V).
5.2. Fault: Pipe stops during cutting.
Cause:
● Pipe not round.
● Pipe not deburred on the outside.
● Rollers of the pipe rest (6) soiled.
NOTICE
NOTICE
If the cutting wheel breaks during cutting, the same cutting notch in the pipe to
be cut may not be used after changing the cutting wheel. The changed cutting
wheel will be damaged by fragments left in the cutting notch.
3.2. Supporting the Material
CAUTION
CAUTION
Always support pipes and longer pipe sections, on both sides if necessary, e.g.
with height-adjustable REMS Herkules 3B or REMS Herkules Y material rests
(accessory, art. no. 120120 or 120130). Make sure that the height-adjustable
material rest is set to the same height of the pipe rest (6). This reduces untrue
running and uncontrolled falling of the pipe to the ground.
3.3. Low Discharge Protection
REMS Nano 11 V is equipped with low discharge protection for the battery. This
switches off the power tool as soon as the battery needs to be recharged. In
this case remove the battery and charge with the REMS rapid charger.
4. Maintenance
Notwithstanding the maintenance described below, it is recommended to send
in the power tool to an authorised REMS contract customer service workshop
for inspection and periodic testing of electrical devices at least once a year. In
Germany, such periodic testing of electrical devices should be performed in
accordance with DIN VDE 0701-0702 and also prescribed for mobile electrical
equipment according to the accident prevention rules DGUV, regulation 3
"Electrical Systems and Equipment". In addition, the respective national safety
provisions, rules and regulations valid for the application site must be considered
and observed.
4.1. Servicing
WARNING
WARNING
Pull out the mains plug or remove the battery before maintenance work!
Keep the rollers of the pipe rest (6), cutting wheel (4) and cutting wheel holder
clean. Clean heavily soiled metal parts with the REMS CleanM machine cleaner
(Art. No. 140119) and then protect against rust.
Clean plastic parts (e.g. housing) only with REMS CleanM machine cleaner
(Art. No. 140119) or a mild soap and a damp cloth. Do not use household
cleaners. These often contain chemicals which can damage the plastic parts.
Never use petrol, turpentine, thinner or similar products for cleaning.
Make sure that liquids never get onto or inside the power tool. Never immerse
the power tool in liquid.
4.2. Inspection/Repair
WARNING
WARNING
Before any repair work, pull the mains plug or remove the battery! This
work may only be performed by qualifi ed personnel.
The gear REMS Nano, REMS Nano 11 V runs in a life-long grease fi lling and
therefore needs no lubrication. The motors of REMS Nano and REMS Nano 11 V
have carbon brushes. These are subject to wear and must therefore be checked
by qualifi ed specialists or an authorised REMS customer service workshop
from time to time. The carbon brushes cannot be replaced so that the motor
may have to be changed. See also page 5. Behaviour in the event of faults
Remedy:
● Reduce feeding pressure.
● Change cutting wheel.
● Have the motor changed by an authorised REMS customer service workshop.
● Charge the battery with the rapid charger or change the battery.
Remedy:
● Reduce feeding pressure.
● Deburr pipe on outside.
● Clean rollers, see 4.1.
