9. Preparation
9.1
Transport
Property damage
!
If possible, transport the appliance to the installation
location in its original packaging.
9.2 Storage
Notice
If you intend to store the product for a long period of
time, do not unpack it.
store the appliance in a dry place where no temperature fluctu-
ations are likely to occur. Protect from moisture and vibrations.
Protect the appliance with air- and dust-tight packaging.
9.3 Installation site
Notice
Protect the product from dust and dirt during building
work.
Install the appliance exclusively outside safety zone 0.
due to the operating noise, we recommend that the appliance
is not installed in living spaces or bathrooms without a door.
To avoid draughts, we recommend installing the appliance
next to windows at lintel height.
do not install the appliance close to objects which may ad-
versely affect the air flow, such as radiators.
If you install the appliance with a shut-off fitting for fire pro-
tection, the air outlet must be directed upwards.
Unfavourable installation and operating conditions may result
in a reduction of the planned flow rate. According to dIN 18017-
3, the flow rate is permitted to fall to 15 % below the planned
flow rate as a result of external factors or when operating sev-
eral ventilation units simultaneously in one line.
For flush-mounted appliances only: Installation depth
Installation depth
The minimum installation depth is equal to the dimension from
the back of the enclosure to the plaster edge flush with the in-
terior plaster. A larger installation depth or retrospective fitting
of tiles is possible as there is no need for the flush-mounted
enclosure and the filter holder to be connected. The claws of
the filter holder ensure a good grip with the enclosure, brick-
work or plaster.

Installation position
The appliances must not be operated with the air outlet di-
rected downwards.
9.4 Air duct system
The extract air duct between the appliance and the main line
must have a nominal diameter of dN 75.
The fans that ventilate the bathroom and wC must not be con-
nected to any other rooms in the apartment.
No more than two appliances per storey may be connected to
a shared main duct.
The diameter of the main duct must be selected based on the
number of appliances. observe the chapter "specification /
data table".
Causes of increased pressure drops:
- warping
- Constricted cross-sections
- Length of main duct above topmost appliance ≥ 1.5 m
Compensate for the increased pressure drop by using a larger
diameter main duct.
size the main duct so that all fans can be operated simultane-
ously at full delivery rate.
According to dIN 18017-3, extract air ducts must be airtight,
stable and, in the case of more than two full storeys, made
of fire-retardant material (class A to dIN 4102). The extract air
ducts must be constructed or thermally insulated in such a way
that damage from condensate is prevented. The main line must
be routed to the outside through the roof.
To prevent structure-borne sound transmission, fasten the
main duct using sound attenuating pipe clips.
Install cleaning apertures in the extract air ducts. The cleaning
apertures must have an airtight cap. screw-in cleaning caps
are not permissible.
9.5 Ventilation and extract air ducting
every internal room that needs to be ventilated must have a
non-lockable inflow aperture with an unrestricted cross-sec-
tion of 150 cm².
The extract air must be discharged into the main duct as close
to the ceiling as possible.
