Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) Persons / Product
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous
playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from
any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage
the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected
to the product.
• The power strip is equipped with a child protection. Only if the pins of a mains plug are
inserted simultaneously into the two holes of a socket, does the mechanism release the hole.
Nevertheless, when children are present ensure you act with caution. Children are not able to
recognise the dangers which could arise if electronic devices are handled incorrectly. Danger
to life of electric shock!
• As a source of voltage, ensure that you only use a proper mains socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz) of
the mains power supply.
• The mains outlet must be located near to the device and be easily accessible.
• Fully unwind the power cable during operation. The power cable is not allowed to be squashed
or damaged by sharp edges. Do not place any objects on the power cable and do not step on
it. Lay the power cable in such a way that no-one can trip over it and so that the plug is easily
accessible. Do not lay the cable for example under carpet.
• The product is not to be touched, operated or switched on/off with damp or wet hands. Danger
of life due to electric shock!
• Never connect the product straight away to the power supply, if it is taken from a cold room
to a warm room (e.g. after transportation). The condensation this creates could destroy the
device or cause an electric shock! First let the product reach room temperature. Wait until the
condensation has evaporated, which can take a few hours. Only then is the product allowed to
be connected to the power supply and operated.
• Always ensure you only pull on a plug by the intended handling areas and never pull the plug
out of a socket by its cable.
• Do not overload the power strip. Observe the power rating indicated in the chapter "Technical
data".
• Do not connect two power strips together! This can cause the power strip to become overloaded.
Danger of fire! Insert the grounded mains plug of the power strip directly, for example, into a
wall power point. Do not connect any more power strips to the power strip.
• Do not use the power strip if it is covered! In the event of a higher power rating the power strip
and the connecting cable heat up, which can lead to overheating and even fire if covered.
• The power strip is only de-energised if the plug is removed from the power point.
• The plug must be removed from the power point in the following conditions:
Version 11/13
- before cleaning the products
- during thunderstorms
- if the product is not used for a longer period of time.
• Do not pour fluids over or next to the product. There is a high risk of fire or life-endangering
electric shock. If fluid still manages to get inside the device, perform an all-pole disconnection
of mains power socket to which the power strip is connected. (Switch off the fuse/automatic
circuit breaker/earth leakage circuit breaker of the respective circuit. Only then should you
remove the plug of the power strip from the mains power point and contact a specialist. Do not
use the product any more.
• In commercial premises observe the accident prevention regulations of the association for
commercial trade associations for electrical systems and equipment.
• In schools, centres of education, hobby and self-help workshops, the use of this product with
electrical devices must be monitored by trained personnel.
b) Miscellaneous
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a
qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.
Operation
It is to be ensured that all connecting cables are not to be bent or squashed. The consequence
of this could be malfunctions, short circuiting or a device defect.
Make sure that the power strip is de-energised before you connect any devices.
The power strip is not designed to be mounted or hung for example using screw connections.
It can only be placed on an even and horizontal surface.
• Make sure that the ON/OFF main switch and the separate ON/OFF switches are turned off (set to the
0 position (off)).
• Connect the plug of the power strip to your mains outlet.
• Connect up to six devices to the safety sockets of the power strip.
• Now switch on the power strip by pressing the ON/OFF main switch. The ON/OFF main switch turns red.
• The surge protection indicator lamp turns blue and indicates that the surge protection is active. If the surge
protection indicator lamp no longer comes on, the surge protection is no longer available.
• Switch on the power points individually using the separate ON/OFF switches. The ON/OFF switches turn
red.
Maintenance and cleaning
• The product is maintenance-free for you. There are no components which have to be maintained by you
inside the product. As a result you should never open/dismantle it. Maintenance and repairs can only be
carried out by a specialist or a specialist workshop.
• Before cleaning always remove the plug of the power strip from the mains socket. Then disconnect all
connected devices from the power strip.
• For cleaning all you require is a dry, soft and clean cloth. Dust can be easily remove with the aid of a long-
haired, soft and clean brush and a vacuum cleaner.
• Never use aggressive cleansers or chemical solvents. They might damage the housing and impair the
functioning of the unit.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
You thus fulfil the legal requirements and make your contribution to protecting the environment.
