SATA-Compactflash-Konverter

Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen Computer vorgesehen und dient dort dazu, eine CompactFlash-
Speicherkarte oder CompactFlash-Festplatte an einem SATA-Anschluss zu betreiben.
Achtung: Spezielle CompactFlash-Karten (Modems, Netzwerkadapter o.ä.) können NICHT verwendet
werden!

Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie den Einbau
von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden Fachwerkstatt durchführen!
Durch unsachgemäßen Einbau wird sowohl das Produkt als auch Ihr Computer und
alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den das Produkt eingebaut werden soll und alle
angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von der Netzspannung,
ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt
nicht!
• Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers und nehmen Sie den Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
• Die Steckbrücke auf dem Konverter dient für die Spannungseinstellung der CompactFlash-Karte. Sitzt
die Steckbrücke auf den beiden Stiften in Richtung des 3.5"-Stromanschlusses (Position 2-3), so ist als
Spannung „5V" eingestellt.
In der anderen Stellung (die beiden Stifte in Richtung Einschub, Position 1-2) ist als Spannung „3.3V"
eingestellt (Grundeinstellung!). Dies ist die Standardeinstellung für alle aktuellen CompactFlash-Karten.
• Entfernen Sie ein Slotblech und schrauben Sie den Konverter dort fest. Der Konverter benötigt keinen
Steckplatz, dadurch kann er an beliebiger Stelle montiert werden. Achten Sie darauf, dass die Platine
des Konverters keinen Kontakt bekommt z.B. mit dem Kühlkörper einer Grafikkarte o.ä., Kurzschlussgefahr!
• Verbinden Sie einen 3.5"-Stromanschluss mit dem Konverter (richtig aufstecken, andernfalls wird der
Konverter und viele weitere Komponenten des Computers beschädigt).
• Danach ist der SATA-Anschluss auf dem Konverter mit einem SATA-Controller zu verbinden. Der
Konverter bietet zwar „nur" SATA1.0-Geschwindigkeit, dies reicht aber für alle momentan erhältlichen
Speicherkarten völlig aus.
• Verschließen Sie das Computergehäuse.
• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor wieder mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie alle Geräte
ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort wieder aus und kontrollieren Sie sämtliche
Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des Computers ist dieser wieder von der Netzspannung zu
trennen, siehe oben!
Speicherkarten einsetzen und herausnehmen
Der Konverter erlaubt es, CompactFlash-Speicherkarten bei laufendem Betrieb ein- oder auszustecken.
Dabei ist aber darauf zu achten, dass keine Zugriffe mehr erfolgen und keine Dateien mehr geöffnet sind.
Andernfalls kann es zu Datenverlust kommen. In Einzelfällen ist das Formatieren der Speicherkarte
erforderlich, bevor diese wieder funktionert.
Eingesteckte Speicherkarten (Orientierung beim Einstecken beachten, keine Gewalt anwenden!) werden
von Windows automatisch erkannt und wie eine zusätzliche Festplatte behandelt. Bei Schreib-/Lesezu-
griffen auf die Speicherkarte blinkt die LED am Konverter.
Zum Auswerfen der CompactFlash-Speicherkarte drücken Sie den Auswurfknopf, so dass die Karte ein
Stück herausgeschoben wird. Danach kann sie aus dem Konverter entnommen werden.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Der Konverter wird von Windows nicht als neue Hardware erkannt, sondern nur die eingesteckten
Speicherkarten. Für Windows sieht es so aus, als ob Sie anstelle einer CompactFlash-Speicherkarte eine
herkömmliche SATA-Festplatte anstecken würden.
• Je nach Größe der Speicherkarte und den Einstellungsmöglichkeiten im BIOS Ihres Computers ist das
Booten (also das Starten eines Betriebssystems) auch von einer in den Konverter eingesteckten
Speicherkarte möglich.
Entsorgung
Entsorgen Sie das Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer gemäß den geltenden gesetzli-
chen Bestimmungen.

Prescribed use
The product is designed to be installed in a computer and serves to operate a CompactFlash memory card
or a CompactFlash hard disk under a SATA port.
Caution: Special CompactFlash cards (modems, network adaptors or similar) cannot be used!

Installation
• Open the housing of your computer and carefully take off the housing cover.
• The jumper on the converter serves to set the tension of the CompactFlash card. If the jumper is located
on the two pins in the direction of the 3.5" power supply connection (position 2-3), the tension is set at
"5V".
In the other position (the two pins in the direction of the plug-in unit, position 1-2) the tension is set at "3.3V"
(basic setting!). This is the standard setting for all current CompactFlash cards.
• Remove a slot sheet and screw the converter tight. The converter does not need a slot, this make it
possible to mount it at any place. Make sure that the circuit board of the converter does not get into contact
e.g. with the cooling element or a graphic card. Danger of short-circuit!
• Connect a 3.5" power supply connection to the converter (attach it properly, otherwise the converter and
many other components of the computer will be damaged).
• Then connect the SATA port on the converter to a SATA controller. Even if the converter offers "only"
SATA1.0 speed, this is sufficient for all memory cards currently available.
• Shut the computer housing.
• Reconnect your computer and monitor with the mains voltage und switch on all devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all settings and cable
connections.
Inserting and taking out memory cards
The converter allows plugging in or out CompactFlash memory cards during operation. It must be made sure,
however, that no further accesses are made and that no files are open any more. Otherwise this may lead
to loss of data. In individual cases it may be necessary to format the memory card before this latter works
again.
Windows automatically recognizes inserted memory cards (please observe the correct direction when
inserting the card, do not use any force!) and treats them just as another hard disk. During write / read
accesses to the memory card, the LED on the converter flashes.
For ejecting the CompactFlash memory card, push the ejection button so that the card comes out a little.
Then it can be removed from the converter.
Tips & Notes
• Windows does not recognize the converter as new hardware, but only the inserted memory cards.
Windows assumes that you insert a conventional SATA hard disk instead of a CompactFlash memory
card.
• Depending on the size of the memory card and the possibilities for the settings in the BIOS of your
computer, it is also possible to boot (to start the operating system) even from a memory card inserted
in the converter.

In case of improper installation, the product as well as your computer and all
connected devices will be damaged.
Attention! Danger of life!
Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed and all connected
devices and separate all devices from the mains voltage. Unplug the mains plug!
Switching the device off via the ON/OFF switch is not sufficient!
Before opening the computer again, it needs to be separated from the mains voltage;
see above!
Please dispose of the unserviceable device according to the current statutory requirements.
