Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen PC-kompatiblen Computer vorgesehen und stellt dort zwei
USB-Ports zur Verfügung.

Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie den
Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden Fachwerkstatt
durchführen!
Durch unsachgemässen Einbau wird sowohl die Steckkarte als auch Ihr
Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den die Steckkarte eingebaut werden soll und
alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von der
Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über den Ein-
/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
• Schrauben Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers auf und nehmen Sie den Gehäusedeckel vor-
sichtig ab.
• Suchen Sie einen freien PCI-Steckplatz, entfernen Sie das zugehörige Slotblech und stek-
ken Sie die PCI-Karte in den PCI-Slot ein. Schrauben Sie die Steckkarte fest, kontrollieren Sie
den korrekten Sitz im PCI-Slot!
• Schrauben Sie den Computer wieder zu.
• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor wieder mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie
alle Geräte ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort wieder aus und kontrollieren Sie
sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des PCs ist der PC wieder von der Netzspannung zu trennen, sie-
he oben!
Treiber-Installation
Der benötigte Treiber ist in Windows 98 (und höher) bereits enthalten, deshalb liegt keine
Treiberdiskette bei.
Windows erkennt die Steckkarte automatisch. Folgen Sie allen Anweisungen von Windows.
Windows 98/98SE/ME benötigt dann ggf. seine Installations-CD, um weitere Komponenten zu
installieren.
Eventuell ist danach noch ein Neustart nötig.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Zum Betrieb der PCI-USB-Karte ist mindestens Windows 98 erforderlich. Es gibt zwar auch
von Windows 95 eine Version mit USB-Treiber (auf der Windows-CD steht "...mit USB-
Unterstützung"), mit dieser funktionieren aber viele USB-Geräte nicht.
• USB-Geräte erlauben das Ein- und Ausstecken während dem Betrieb. Sie brauchen also
nicht Ihren PC ausschalten, wenn Sie Geräte ein- oder ausstecken wollen (bei anderen
Schnittstellen kann dies zu Beschädigungen führen, z.B. wenn Sie eine PS/2-Maus während
dem Betrieb ein- oder ausstecken).
Finden jedoch Datenübertragungen auf dem USB-Port statt, z.B. beim Scannen über einen
USB-Scanner, und Sie ziehen den USB-Stecker heraus, könnte das Anwendungsprogramm
abstürzen und evtl. auch andere Daten beschädigt werden!
• Im abgesicherten Modus von Windows ist kein USB-Betrieb möglich.
USB-Tastaturen und USB-Mäuse funktionieren deshalb normalerweise nicht (evtl. bietet das
BIOS Ihres Motherboards USB-Unterstützung für eine USB-Tastatur/-Maus).

Proper Use
The product is designed to be fitted into a PC-compatible computer and there it provides two
USB2.0 ports.

Installation
• Unscrew the housing of your computer and carefully remove the housing lid.
• Look for an empty PCI slot. Remove the associated slot sheet. Insert the PCI card in the emp-
ty PCI slot and screw it tight, check if the PCI card is positioned correctly!
• Replace the housing and fasten the screws.
• Reconnect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly, turn it off immediately and check all settings and
cable connections.
• Before you reopen the PC, disconnect it from the mains, see above!
Installing the drivers
The required driver is already included in Windows 98 (and higher versions). Thus, no driver
diskette is supplied. Windows will automatically detect the plug-in card. Follow all instructions
given by Windows. Windows 98/98SE/ME may then require its installation CD-ROM to install
further components
You may have to restart your computer afterwards.
Tips & Hints
• To operate the PCI-USB card, you need at least Windows 98. Although there is a Windows
95 version available with a USB driver (USB support is indicated on the Windows CD-ROM),
many USB devices will not run with this driver.
• USB devices can be plugged or unplugged during operation. You thus do not have to switch
off your PC when plugging or unplugging devices (in case of other ports, this may cause
damages e.g., if you plug or unplug a PS/2 mouse during operation).
If, however, data is being transferred on the USB port e.g., when scanning via a USB scan-
ner and you pull the USB plug, the application program may crash and damage also other
data!
• The secured mode of Windows does not permit USB mode.
Therefore, USB keyboards and USB mice do not run usually (the BIOS of your motherboard
may feature USB support for a USB keyboard or mouse).

If you do not have expert knowledge on the installation, you should have the
product installed by QUALIFIED PERSONNEL or by a corresponding specialist
dealer shop!
Improper fitting causes damage to the plug-in card, the computer and all con-
nected devices.
Caution, serious hazard!
Turn off the computer into which you intent to install the plug-in card and all
connected devices and disconnect all appliances from the mains supply, pull
the mains cord! It is not sufficient to turn them off via the mains switch!
