• If the hard disk fan is to be installed on a hard disk already fitted
in the PC case, remove the hard disk.
• Secure the hard disk fan to the underside of the hard disk using
four screws. If possible, align the hard disk fan so that it does not
project beyond the front or rear edge of the hard disk.
• Refit the hard disk in the PC and secure it in place using four scr-

ews (the screws must not be too long, maximum length of thread
approx. 4-5 mm, total length screw approx. 6-7 mm; otherwise
the electronics of the hard disk can be damaged!).
More space is now needed because of the increased height. If
necessary, remove other equipment and refit it in a different place.
Make sure that there is a clearance of at least 1 cm between the
lower rotor and the unit underneath (or the PC case), so that the
intake of fresh air is unimpeded.
• Connect the power lead of the fan to your PC power supply
assembly using a free 5.25" power connector or plug it in bet-
ween the power connector of the power supply assembly and
socket of the hard disk.
Make sure that the ribbon cable of the hard disk is correctly sea-
ted. Pin 1 of the cable is usually colour-coded, pin 1 on the hard
disk lies next to the power socket.
• Replace the cover on the PC case and tighten the screws.
• Connect the PC to the power supply and switch it on.
• If your PC does not boot up correctly, check all cable connec-
tions and settings.
