Metal Detector "GC1026"
Item-No. 86 04 11
Intended Use
The metal detector is intended for detecting metallic objects in the ground (e.g. beach, forest, field) outside
buildings.
Because of the electronic construction it is not suitable for detecting electrical cables.
Apart from the detection coil, the product must not get humid or wet.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves the risk of short
circuits, fire, electric shock, etc. The safety instructions and technical data must be followed at all times!

General safety instructions
Please read all the instructions before using this device, they include important
information on its correct operation. The warranty will be void in the event of damage
caused by failure to observe these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for
any consequential damage!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use
or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty will be null and void in such
cases.
The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the unit is not permitted because of safety
and approval reasons (CE).
The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. Use the product out of the
reach of children.
Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings for chil-
dren.
Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even
from a low height.
Safety recommendations for use
When the device indicates a find, please bear in mind that instead of a valuable object it
could also be munitions or other explosives. Excavating and recovering the find is com-
pletely your responsibility.
The manufacturer and dealer do not assume any liability for damage to property or per-
sons.
Acquaint yourself with the current regulations concerning excavations that are in effect in your
country before using the product. Unauthorised excavation may lead to high penalties.
Never search on sites of archaeological significance without authorisation.
Contact the authorities and museums if you find objects of archaeological significance.
Never dig on others' private property; always ask the owner of the property for authorisation first.
The detection coil is protected against humidity, with the exception of the control unit. However,
never use the detection coil in or under water.
Do not turn the volume up too much when you are wearing headphones, this might damage your
hearing. In addition, do not search in areas where there are moving vehicles when you are
wearing headphones. Headphones suppress or drown out external noise!
Further, pay attention to the environment or the surface you are on to avoid stumbling or falling
or otherwise hurting yourself while searching.
After excavation, fill up the holes up again completely and firm the surface, so your treasure hunt
does not leave any trace.
Notes on batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries away from children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If
swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin can cause acid burns,
therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There is a risk of
explosion!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Danger of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries that
are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting (rechargeable) batteries.
• Do not mix batteries or rechargeable batteries with different levels of charge.
• Do not mix batteries with rechargeable batteries. Use either batteries or rechargeable batteries.
• Rechargeable batteries can be used instead of standard batteries.
When using rechargeable batteries, bear in mind that their capacity is far less than alkaline batteries, for
example, which leads to a shorter operating time. Furthermore, the voltage of rechargeable batteries is
lower (rechargeable batteries = 1.2V, batteries = 1.5V).
• Remove the (rechargeable) batteries from the device when you are not going to use it for a prolonged period
of time.
Inserting/replacing the batteries

• Open the lid of the battery compartment on the underside.
• Insert 8 AA/mignon batteries into the battery compartment, paying attention to the correct polarity (pay

attention to plus/+ and minus/-). 4 small plastic tubes/foils may be available, into each of which you can
insert 2 batteries. This prevents the batteries from hopping out.
°
• Close the battery compartment lid again; make sure you do not accidentally swap the battery compartment
lids.
• The batteries need changing, if the display is no longer active. Weak batteries could also cause the metal
detector to malfunction.

Assembly
Assembly can be done without tools.
• Connect the extension tube (4) to the upper holding pipe (11). To do this, press the two retaining bolts
together and insert the tube into the upper holding pipe so that the two retaining bolts fit into the two holes
in the upper holding tube.
• Place the lower holding tube (2) in the extension tube (4). The lower holding tube also has retaining bolts
that fit into the holes (8) on the extension tube. For later use, you may want to adjust the length, so the metal
detector can be carried in a proper way.
In addition, you can fasten the lower holding tube on the extension tube using the locking screw (3).
• Finally, attach the detection coil (1) with the plastic screw/nut (7) to the lower joint on the holding tube (2).
The detection coil (as shown in the picture above) must point to the same side as the control unit.
• Wind the connection cable (9) round the connection pole several times and plug the connection plug into
the corresponding socket on the control unit (5).
• If desired, the arm support can be adjusted, it is only fixed to the upper holding pipe by 2 screws.
Remove spent batteries from the metal detector, as they could leak and damage the device.
The same applies when you are not going to use the metal detector for a while (e.g. when
storing).
