ITEM NO. 161415 CAR SYSTEM USB CHARGER
General information:
• USB A from 1.1 with 500 mA power handling capacity
• Suitable for all FALLER Car System vehicles of any generation and gauge (except Faller Car System Digital)
• Suitable for all original FALLER Car System batteries
• Installed battery type is automatically detected and charging current is adjusted accordingly
• Automatic shutdown - switches off after a certain amount of time and charging end voltage has been reached
• LED signals for status and error messages
• Input side:
• Connection type: USB A
• Voltage: 5 V
• Max. current: 0.5 A
• Output:
• Max. voltage 2.4 V
• Max. current: 0.5 A
The USB charging adapter can be used to charge the NiMH batteries, 1.2 V and 2.4 V, installed in the FALLER Car System vehicles within 7 hours.
The charging current is approximately 0.2 coulombs (C), resulting in a charging time of 7 hours.
Depending on the capacity, the batteries have pre-charge resistance, which is measured by the charging adapter and the charging current is adjusted
to suit the battery.

If a battery is connected or the charging adapter is plugged in with the battery connected, each battery is first charged (formatted) for one minute with
a constant current of 5 mA. The red LED flashes during this process. This formatting is used to regenerate a battery that has been deeply discharged or not
been used for a long time. After this formatting time, the resistance installed with the battery is determined and from this the charging current is determined.
If the charger does not succeed in determining the resistance, it remains in format mode for another minute and then tries to determine the battery type again
after another minute. The unit remains in this mode until a valid battery type is detected. The (formatting) current flowing in the process is selected so that it
does not damage any of the batteries. If the red LED starts flashing faster after several minutes, the battery is defective.
Once the battery is detected, the associated charge current is set and the battery is charged at constant current for 7 hours.
The charging process is indicated by the continuous light of the red LED, while the green LED indicates the progressing state of charge in 10% increments.
After 7 hours, the device switches to trickle charge (5 mA), a current that any battery can tolerate indefinitely.
The end of the charging process is indicated by the continuous light of the green LED.
