TROUBLESHOOTING
If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem by
following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre.

Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourself, as this will invalidate the
guarantee.
PROBLEM

• REMEDY
No sound/ power
– Wrong battery polarity
• Insert batteries correctly
– Batteries exhausted
• Replace batteries
– PAUSE ; has been activated
• Switch PAUSE ; off
– Volume is turned down
• Turn up volume
– Headphones still connected, speaker muted
• Disconnect headphones
The model number is found at the back of the set and the production number in the battery compartment.
Hum when using mains adapter
– Adapter used is unsuitable
• Use a Philips SBC6650 or other standard regulated DC 3V
adapters
Poor sound/sound from one channel only:
– Headphones plug not fully inserted
• Insert plug fully
Poor cassette sound quality
– Tape head dirty
• Clean tape head (see MAINTENANCE)
Tape playback too slow/ fast
– TAPE SPEED on wrong setting
• Set TAPE SPEED to 0
